Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 May 2025
Welcome to PetTag. These terms set out the rules for using our website and buying our pet tags. By using the site or buying a tag, you agree to them.
If you don't agree, please don't use the site. If anything isn't clear, email support@pet-tag.app and we'll explain in plain English.
1. Who we are
PetTag is operated by Arthur Both, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. Our registered business address is:
Flat 3, 5 Woodfield Road, London, W9 2BA
Throughout these terms, "we", "us" and "our" refer to PetTag. "You" refers to anyone using the site or buying our products.
2. What PetTag is
PetTag sells physical pet ID tags. Each tag has a unique QR code printed on it. When someone scans the QR code, they see a public profile you have created for your pet — typically including a photo, name, your contact preferences, and a way to message you if your pet is lost.
You control what information is shown on the public profile. By default, your phone number and email are hidden; finders contact you through a message form.
3. Creating an account
You can create an account to manage your pets' profiles.
To use the service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old, or have a parent or guardian's permission
- Provide accurate information when you sign up
- Keep your password secure and not share your account
- Only create profiles for pets you actually own or are responsible for
You are responsible for all activity that happens on your account. If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, please contact us immediately at support@pet-tag.app.
4. What you can and can't put on your pet's profile
You can include:
- Your pet's photo, name, breed, and similar details
- Medical notes (allergies, medications, conditions)
- Behaviour notes (nervous, friendly, doesn't like men in hats)
- Emergency contact details
You can't include:
- Other people's personal information without their consent
- Content that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or harassing
- Content designed to deceive or manipulate finders (e.g. fake reward scams)
- Sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content
- Anything that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights
We can remove content or close accounts that break these rules, with or without warning.
5. Buying tags
When you place an order through our shop, you are making an offer to buy. We accept your offer when we send you an order confirmation email. At that point, a contract is formed between you and us.
Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) by default. International customers may see prices converted to their local currency at checkout. The price you pay is whatever Stripe displays at the moment you confirm payment.
We aim to dispatch orders within 2–3 working days. Delivery times depend on your location and the carrier. We will email you when your order is dispatched.
Your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by these terms.
6. Returns and refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on unused tags. See our Refund Policy for full details.
7. The lifetime profile
We say our profiles are "lifetime" — meaning, as long as PetTag operates as a service, your tags will work and your profiles will remain accessible. There is no recurring fee.
That said, we can't guarantee the service will exist forever. We may stop operating PetTag at any time. If we do, we will give you at least 60 days' notice by email and allow you to download your data.
8. Service availability
We try to keep the site running 24/7, but we can't guarantee it will always be available. We may take it offline for maintenance, updates, or because of issues outside our control.
QR scanning relies on the finder having a working phone and internet connection. If the finder can't scan or access the internet, your tag won't work for them. A pet tag is not a substitute for microchipping, which we strongly recommend in addition.
9. Our liability
We provide PetTag with reasonable care and skill, but we can't guarantee outcomes. Specifically, we don't promise that:
- A scanned tag will result in your pet being returned
- A finder will use the tag, message you, or contact you
- The information you provide will reach the right person at the right time
To the extent permitted by law, our maximum liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for things that cannot be excluded by law, such as death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud.
10. Your data and privacy
We collect and use personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. You should read it before using the service.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when. For major changes, we'll email account holders to let you know.
Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, please close your account.
12. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time from your account settings. When you do, we'll delete your profile, your pets' data, and your photos. Your tag codes will be released and can be re-claimed by future users.
We may close accounts that break these terms, with or without warning.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, unless you live in another part of the UK, in which case your local courts also have jurisdiction.
