What people ask before buying
Does the finder need an app?
No. They point any phone camera at the QR code and your pet's page opens in the browser. Nothing to download, on any modern iPhone or Android.
How do I set it up?
Scan the tag with your phone camera, sign in or create a free account, and choose which pet it's for. It takes about a minute, and there's no app to install.

Never. It's a printed QR code, so there's nothing to charge and nothing to break. It just works, for the life of the tag.
How big is the tag?
About 40 mm across (45 mm including the loop it hangs from), 2.5 mm thick, and about 4 g, less than half the weight of a £1 coin. It's printed plastic in pink, blue, white or yellow, with the QR code set into the face, and comes with a split ring for the collar.
Is my personal information private?
Yes. Your phone number and email stay hidden by default, and finders reach you through a form on the page. You choose if and when to show your contact details.
What happens if my pet goes missing?
Turn on lost mode in two taps. Your pet's page then shows a clear missing alert, and you're emailed when someone scans the tag, with the rough area it was scanned in.
Does a QR tag meet the UK law on dog tags?
Not on its own. In a public place, a dog must wear its owner's name and address on its collar or on a tag, so use your PetTag alongside an engraved tag or a collar with your details on. Our free dog tag wording maker helps you get the engraving right.

No. A PetTag is a one-off purchase and your pet's profile stays free for life. Plenty of smart tags charge every month for the profile behind the tag, so it's worth checking before you buy.
What if I lose the physical tag?
Order a replacement and move your pet's profile onto the new tag. The profile and everything on it stays exactly as it was.
Can I buy one as a present?
Yes. Tags arrive ready to set up, so whoever you give one to scans it with their phone, makes a free account and adds their own pet. You can have the tags posted straight to them by putting their address in at checkout.
