Small dog tags with a QR code, light enough for a puppy.
The Small is 34 mm across and about 3 g; the Mini is 29 mm and about 2 g, for toy breeds and young puppies. Whoever finds your dog scans it with their phone camera, sees your dog's page and messages you. Same price as the standard tag: £10, with no subscription.
Fireworks season: order by Thursday 29 October for your tag to arrive before Bonfire Night.

How it works
1. Pick the size
Choose Small or Mini in the shop, and a colour for each tag. A pack can mix sizes, so a puppy can wear a Mini now and a bigger tag later.
2. Set up their page
Scan the tag when it arrives and add your dog's photo, name and notes, and how you'd like to be reached. It takes about a minute.
3. Anyone can scan it
Whoever finds your dog points their phone camera at the tag, with no app, and can message you and share where they are.
Made for small collars
Light on a little neck
About 3 g for the Small and 2 g for the Mini, lighter than most metal tags, so it doesn't drag on a toy breed's collar or bang about.
Still easy to scan
The QR code is drawn for each size, with fewer squares on the smaller tags so each stays big enough, and set in black, so a phone camera reads it even on the Mini.
Your number stays private
Finders message you through your dog's page, so your phone number doesn't have to be on the tag.
Lost mode
Switch it on and anyone who scans the tag sees your dog is missing. You're emailed when it's scanned.
Grows with your puppy
Change your dog's page any time, and move it to a bigger tag in a few taps when they grow.

What a small dog still has to wear
Size doesn't change the rule: in a public place, the Control of Dogs Order 1992 says every dog must wear a collar with its owner's name and address on it, or on a tag attached to it, even if it's microchipped.
The Small and Mini carry the QR code only, so pair one with your surname and postcode on the collar itself or a small engraved tag. On the standard 40 mm tag we can print them on the back for £3, so one tag covers both.
How it compares
A PetTag against an engraved tag, a GPS tracker and a microchip. It works alongside the microchip, not instead of it.

What owners say
“Love this tag. The no subscription is so good. Once you’ve paid for your tag, that’s it, no more cost. You can easily change any messages as well. For example temporary medical issues or if you are away and a friend is looking after them you can add their details. What’s not to love!”

Questions
What sizes do you make?
Three, all the same price. The Standard is 40 mm across (45 mm with the loop), 5 mm thick and about 4 g. The Small is 34 mm (39 mm with the loop), 4.5 mm thick and about 3 g. The Mini is 29 mm (34 mm with the loop), 4 mm thick and about 2 g.
Which size should I get for my dog?
As a rough guide, the Mini suits toy breeds and young puppies, like Chihuahuas, Yorkies and Pomeranians; the Small suits small breeds such as Dachshunds, Jack Russells, Shih Tzus and Cavaliers; and the Standard suits most dogs from a Cocker Spaniel up. If your dog's collar is narrow or the D-ring small, go a size down.
Is it the right size for a puppy?
Yes. Most puppies can wear the Mini or the Small from their first collar. Once your puppy is grown you can move their page to a bigger tag in a few taps, and nothing on the page is lost.
New puppy checklistDo the smaller tags cost more?
No. Every size is £10 for one tag, and packs of two, three and four are £18, £26 and £32. A pack can mix sizes and colours. Delivery in the UK is free and there's no subscription.
Will a phone still scan a code that small?
Yes. The Small's code is 20.5 mm and the Mini's 17 mm, set in black into the tag. The smaller sizes use a code with fewer squares, so each square stays big enough to read, and most phones read it straight from the camera app.
Can I have my details on the back of a Small or Mini?
Not on the smaller sizes: there isn't room for the lettering to stay readable, so they keep the Pet-Tag mark on the back. Our personalised back fits the standard 40 mm tag, or you can wear a small engraved tag or have your details on the collar alongside a Small or Mini.
Personalised dog tagsHow long does it take to arrive?
Small and Mini tags are made to order and posted within 2 working days by Royal Mail, which usually takes 1 to 3 working days more.
How does it fit on the collar?
It hangs from the collar's D-ring on a split ring, like any other tag, and comes with one. If the D-ring is very small, a smaller split ring works too.
How tight a collar should beIs it tough enough for a dog?
It's printed in one piece, with the code set into the tag rather than printed on top, so walks, rain and swims won't rub it off.
Does my dog still need a microchip?
Yes. In the UK a dog must be microchipped and wear a tag with your details in public: they're two separate rules. The chip can only be read with a scanner; the tag can be read by anyone on the spot.
Dog microchipping lawDo the small sizes suit cats too?
Yes. The Small suits most cats, and the Mini suits kittens and very small cats.
