The standard tag is 40 mm across and about 4 g. For smaller pets there's the Small (34 mm, about 3 g) and the Mini (29 mm, about 2 g). Which size for my dog?

Your details on the back (+£3 a tag, optional)

Instead of “Pet-Tag”, we print your surname, and your house number and postcode, as UK law asks a dog to wear in public. Then one tag does both jobs.

If they ever get lost

What happens when someone finds a pet wearing a PetTag.

  1. Pets get out.

A gate left open, a slipped lead. It happens to careful owners too.

  2. Someone finds them.

They see the tag on the collar.

  3. One scan.

Any phone camera opens it. No app, nothing to download.

  4. Their page opens.

Their photo and name, and a way to message you. Your number stays hidden.

  5. You hear straight away.

A message on your phone, and where they are if the finder shares it.

What owners say

“Love this tag. The no subscription is so good. Once you’ve paid for your tag, that’s it, no more cost. You can easily change any messages as well. For example temporary medical issues or if you are away and a friend is looking after them you can add their details. What’s not to love!”

Good to know

When will my tags arrive?

We post orders the next working day (Small and Mini tags and tags with your details on the back are made to order, so within 2 working days). Delivery is free in the UK, and free abroad on 2 tags or more (£2.00 on a single tag). We'll email you when your order is on its way.

Can you put my name and address on the tag?

Yes, for £3 a tag. Instead of "Pet-Tag" on the back, we print your surname and your house number and postcode, up to 12 characters a line, in black and set into the plastic like the QR code. That's what UK law asks a dog to wear in public, so one tag does both jobs. It's made to order, so it can't be returned for a change of mind, but anything wrong with it we'll always put right.

How big is the tag?

About 40 mm across (45 mm including the loop it hangs from) and 5 mm thick, and it weighs about 4 g, less than half the weight of a £1 coin. It's printed plastic with the QR code set into the face, in pink, blue, white or yellow, and comes with a split ring for the collar.

Does whoever finds my pet need an app?

No. Any modern iPhone or Android camera opens your pet's page. There's nothing to download.

Is it waterproof? Will the code wear off?

Rain, mud and puddles don't hurt it: it's solid printed plastic, and the black code is set into the face rather than printed on top, so there's nothing to wash off or rub away. The plastic picks up scuffs over time, like any tag, so scan yours now and then to check it still reads.

What if there's no phone signal where my pet is found?

The code holds your pet's web address, so the finder's phone needs signal or wi-fi to open the page. Somewhere with neither, it opens the moment they're back in range. It's one reason a dog's collar must also carry your name and address by law: that part needs nothing at all.

Does it work abroad?

Yes. Your pet's page opens on any phone with internet, wherever you are, and we post to the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and a few other countries. The page is in English.

Is there a subscription?

No. You pay once, and your pet's profile stays free for life.

Can I buy one as a present?

Yes. Tags arrive ready to set up, so whoever you give one to scans it with their phone, makes a free account and adds their own pet. You don't need an account to buy, and you can have the tags posted straight to them by putting their address in at checkout.

What if it's not right for me?

Tell us within 14 days of receiving your tags, post them back, and we'll refund you in full. No questions asked.

Does it cover the UK law for dog tags?

Yes, if you add your details to the back. Dogs in public must wear your name and address on their collar or a tag, and a QR code doesn't show those on its own. Press "Add my details to the back" (+£3 a tag) and we print your surname, house number and postcode there, so one tag does both jobs. Otherwise, keep an engraved tag or a collar with your details on alongside it.

Prices are in pounds; Stripe shows your own currency at checkout. Still have a question? Contact us.
